Elevating Our Voice in Washington

Leaders from our Federation proudly joined Jewish community leaders from across North America in Washington, D.C. for the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly. While in Washington, members of our South Palm Beach County delegation met with our Congressman, Jared Moskowitz, along with other Representatives to engage in critical conversations about rising antisemitism, security, and the evolving needs of our families, institutions, and agencies. It was an important opportunity to elevate our community’s voice on the national stage.

During these meetings, our delegation emphasized several key federal priorities, including the Antisemitism Awareness Act, the Fallen Servicemembers Religious Heritage Restoration Act, and the Pray Safe Act. Given the ongoing government shutdown, we urged lawmakers to ensure the continuation of SNAP benefits to protect low-income families, seniors, children, and Holocaust survivors from food insecurity. Additionally, we advocated for robust funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which provides essential protection for synagogues, day schools, and Jewish institutions facing elevated security threats.

FAU Takes a National Leadership Role in Support of Israel

On December 8, our Federation CEO, Igor Alterman, and Vice President of Public Affairs, Brandey Edelson, met with FAU President Adam Hasner to discuss his ongoing support for our partner agency, Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach, and his continued dedication to strengthening Jewish life and security for students at FAU.

We are also proud to thank him for his extraordinary leadership with the historic expansion of FAU’s investment in Israel Bonds to now become the university with the largest Israel Bonds holdings in the world. This bold step mirrors moves by Palm Beach County, the largest local government investor in Israel Bonds globally. Revenue from these bonds will support the strategic goals of the university and further solidifies FAU’s commitment to their partnership with Israel.

Israel Advocacy Days in Tallahassee – January 26–27, 2026

This January, we will travel to Florida’s Capitol for Israel Advocacy Days, a statewide advocacy fly-in organized in partnership with Federations and Jewish organizations across Florida. Over two days, we will meet with legislators, share our priorities, and advocate for policies that enhance community security, combat antisemitism, and deepen the Florida–Israel relationship.

We encourage you to consider joining us. Whether you’ve participated in advocacy missions before or this will be your first time, your presence makes a meaningful difference.

If you are interested in attending or would like more information, please reach out to Brandey Edelson at BrandeyE@jewishboca.org or register here: https://jewishpb.org/israeldaysflyin/
