At the Shirley and Barton Weisman Delray Community Center, love was in the air.

Proudly supported by the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, the 12,000-square-foot community center is the central hub for more than 500 local seniors and Holocaust survivors from across South Palm Beach County. On a day when Federation’s Safety Net Services Task Force was paying a visit, nearly 40 seniors were rehearsing for their upcoming performance of love songs.

The show was a much-anticipated concert, complete with matching T-shirts adorned with the letters “L-O-V-E”. Center Director Michele Patron shared how these programs offer more than just recreation – they are lifelines to many.

“The center isn’t just a place to pass time; it’s an energetic community that rekindles the spirits of our seniors,” she said.

From holiday parties and games to active discussion groups and intergenerational programs, every activity is designed to enrich the lives of its members, fostering mental, physical and social wellbeing.

“By supporting these organizations, we’re not just helping individuals, we’re strengthening our entire community,” said Susan Rahn, chair of the Federation’s Safety Net Services Task Force.
