Carol Lazar will impact this community far beyond her lifetime.

Ten years ago, Carol moved to South Florida to be closer to her children and grandchildren, but she also brought a deep desire to give back.

Originally from New York, and after years in Los Angeles, Carol found more than a new home in Boca Raton. She discovered the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, an organization that touches countless aspects of Jewish life.

“I didn’t just find an organization. I found a community,” she says.

That connection led Carol to become a Lion of Judah, a step reflecting her commitment to sustaining Jewish life. But she wanted her impact to last even longer.

As she and her husband reviewed their estate plans, they created separate endowments: Carol’s Lion of Judah Endowment in her name, and in her husband Andy’s name, a Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment, ensuring that their gifts would continue in perpetuity.

“We said we’d like to have our gifts in perpetuity because there are always going to be organizations that need help,” Carol explained.

Legacy, Carol realized, can appear in unexpected ways. After her mother-in-law passed, she discovered a Lion of Judah pin among her belongings. At first, she didn’t grasp its significance. Today, her own pin symbolizes both her commitment and a continuation of tradition.

For Carol, being a Forever Lion is about continuity, identity, and responsibility to future generations.

“I think that in order for future generations to continue supporting Jewish organizations and acknowledging their Jewish heritage, we need to be involved,” she said.

Now, she hopes her story inspires other women to consider their own lasting legacy.

Through their separate endowments, Carol and her husband have ensured that their support for Jewish life, and this community, will continue for generations to come.
