The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and its Board of Directors are proud to announce that Igor Alterman will assume the role of President & CEO on February 1, 2025.

Igor joins the Federation following his impactful tenure as President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. His prior leadership experience includes serving as CEO of the University of Miami Hillel: Braman Miller Center for Jewish Life and holding positions at Cornell University and Ithaca College in New York.

At his first public introduction to the South Palm Beach County donor community at the Sandler Family Major Gifts event, Igor shared his enthusiasm about returning to South Florida. Addressing what he called a “sea of familiar faces,” he expressed his vision for building a vibrant future in collaboration with old friends and new partners.

“After living in South Florida for nearly a decade, it took a cross-country move to fully appreciate what so many here already know – this is the place to be. Boca is the place to raise a family, proudly wear the Magen David, and live, work, and play as Jews, comfortably and confidently,” he said.

Igor’s selection follows an extensive executive-level search, conducted by a special search committee, comprised of eight members of the Federation’s Board of Directors – Board Chair Jill Rose, Don Brodie, Karen Dern, Bryan Drowos, Benji Gene, Arthur Goldberg, Bob Lewis, and Shelly Snyder.

“Serving on this committee to select our next CEO has been a privilege. The committee was unanimously impressed with Igor’s intelligence, vision, and energy,” said Don Brodie. “He brings an instinctive leadership ability and insight of what’s important to our community to the position, and we are confident that he will harness the power of our dedicated community of donors to propel our Federation forward.”

While in Dallas, Igor positioned its Federation as a vital pillar of support for the Jewish community’s diverse needs, following the hostage crisis in Colleyville, TX, and the terror attacks of October 7th in Israel. During his tenure, he spearheaded organizational transformation, achieved significant milestones, including leading a highly successful annual campaign, community security initiatives, and strategic planning. As CEO of the University of Miami Hillel, he led a multi-million-dollar capital campaign, oversaw facility construction and operations, and launched initiatives in partnership with major foundations. His achievements were honored with the Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award, Hillel International’s highest recognition.

A Wexner Fellow and ROI Schusterman Community Member, with dual Master’s degrees in Nonprofit Management and Religious Education, his professional journey reflects a steadfast commitment to strengthening Jewish life through visionary nonprofit leadership.

Born in Russia and having lived and studied in Israel, Igor is deeply connected to the global Jewish community. He will soon relocate to South Florida with his wife, Olga, their two children, David and Alice, and their dog, Quentin, named after a renowned film director.

The Federation looks forward to welcoming Igor and beginning this exciting new chapter under his leadership.
