During the ongoing war, Crossroads has been able to meet the growing needs of English-speaking teens in Jerusalem, thanks in part to your donations to our Federation’s Israel Emergency Fund. Crossroads is one of the many partner agencies supported by the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, answering the calls for help in Israel.

Offering social, educational, and therapeutic programs, Crossroads addresses the emotional toll brought about about the war and its aftermath. Crossroads’ Crisis Hotline is recording increased usage from teens experiencing acute emotional distress and trauma-related exposure to violence, the constant presence of danger, an uncertain future, and feeling overwhelmed by the loss of a relative, friend, teacher, or neighbor.

The agency has continued supporting teens throughout the war with its late-night street outreach in downtown Jerusalem. Recently, street art activities were set up, allowing teens to express and discuss their feelings about the current crisis. Crossroads has also offered a lecture series for parents of teens to address their emotional and mental health needs during this time.

In two weeks alone, Crossroads took on close to 20 clients.

Maya is one such teen receiving care from Crossroads. Maya, a released IDF soldier, was originally slated to attend the Nova Music Festival; but a last-minute change of plans kept her away, sparing her from the tragic terrorist attack that claimed the lives of several of her friends among the festival participants on October 7. The incident left her paralyzed by grief and fear, confining her to her apartment for a month.

Seeking a path toward healing, Maya took tentative steps back into the world by joining the Center for Therapy at Crossroads. A compassionate social worker became a steady presence, offering regular check-ins and giving Maya the support she needed. Crossroads continues to provide her with therapeutic services.
