Board Member Michael Lipton is involved in many aspects of facilitating the excellent work of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. His extensive involvement includes co-chairing the Addison Federation Golf Tournament and chairing the first Outreach Task Force. He previously co-chaired Federation’s first Men’s Division as well as Federation’s Main Event. Michael is also on Federation’s executive committee, the board of the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation and Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services, and is an active annual donor solicitor for Federation.
Michael has been part of our Federation’s allocations work for many years, advocating for our partner agencies and the broad Jewish community that benefits from their funding. When Federation expanded its funding to include community outreach programs that engage unaffiliated Jews in Jewish communal life, Michael stepped up to the plate to chair the Task Force that would prioritize that work. Due to the success of those programs, community outreach is now woven into the fabric of our Federation’s impact.
Michael has also been a longtime leader in the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation. Serving on the Foundation Board for 18 years, he has chaired the JJCF’s Grants and Scholarship committee, and he was instrumental in implementing JJCF’s Kamsly grants when it began allocating those funds regularly in 2012.
“I have a strong commitment to Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam; something I learned from my grandparents.” said Michael, “It does not matter how much or little you have, it’s always important to give back to those less fortunate – especially within the Jewish community.”
Prior to coming to Florida in 2001, Michael was involved in a wide range of Jewish communal organizations in Connecticut. He was involved in medical, educational and arts organizations, and joined Young Leadership of the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation in 1970.
“I believe deeply in the programs that Federation funds in our community, Israel, and throughout the world,” he said.
Michael lives at Addison Reserve with his loving wife, Roxane. They have both been very involved in our Federation, Jewish Family Services, Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach County. Roxane founded the Jewish Women’s Foundation of South Palm Beach County over 20 years ago. Michael is humble and does this work as a labor of true love, and the Federation is honored to have him as a member of our community.
