Are you seeing more moving trucks in your neighborhood? Are new faces appearing, as you walk your dog or visit the community playground? If you’re welcoming new neighbors to your community, the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County would like to meet them too.

Always sensitive to the needs of residents in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Highland Beach, the Jewish Federation of SPBC is witnessing the same influx of new faces into its area as other Florida communities. In response, it launched its 2021 Newcomers initiative, offering virtual ways for people to experience the friendlier side of Florida.

“We know it takes some friendly help to figure out your way around, and we’re here to show you the way,” said Lisa Friedman Clark, who is co-chairing the outreach programs with Nancy Gefen.

Through Zoom events, scheduled throughout the summer, the Federation’s team will introduce your new neighbors to their Jewish community. As our ambassador, you have an important role in helping new residents experience the friendlier side of Florida. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance in helping our family grow.

Why connect with the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County?

Having served its catchment area since 1979, the Jewish Federation of SPBC has innumerable ways for people to get to know each other. New people are invited to network online with Business & Professional leaders, travel virtually to other countries, and socialize with the Young Adult Division. The Federation offers friend-making opportunities for all new residents, from Baby Boomers and young couples to empty nesters and those who are single.

As a way to connect people, PJ Library® in South Palm Beach County, a program of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, hosts an online New Family Pizza Shabbat. On select Fridays at 5 p.m., newcomers meet via Zoom and dine on pizza and challah that is delivered to their homes, courtesy of PJ Library®. Families sing Shabbat songs, read stories and say the Shabbat blessings, while meeting each other. Residents of Delray Beach, Boca Raton and Highland Beach, who are interested in learning more, can email PJLibrary@bocafed.org for details.

“It’s a popular program for those who want to get to know one another, entertain their kids and learn about the community, all at the same time, while having dinner on us,” said PJ Parent Ambassador Ashley LeWinter.
