In July, the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County proudly sent one of the largest delegations to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Jewish Federations of North America United for Security Emergency Fly-In. Joined by more than 400 leaders from across the country, the local delegation stood in solidarity with Jewish communities nationwide during a critical moment in time.
Organized in partnership with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the fly-in was convened in response to escalating threats facing Jews in the United States and Israel. Participants met with more than 200 senators and members of Congress to advocate for immediate and necessary action, including increased federal funding for local Jewish communities, enhanced cooperation with the FBI, and stronger policies to combat antisemitism and hate crimes.
During the 36-hour fly-in, participants engaged with senior White House officials, congressional leaders and top homeland security experts, advancing a unified agenda focused on physical security, combating antisemitism and affirming America’s support for Israel.
Representing Federation’s ongoing commitment to Jewish security and unity, the delegates emphasized an urgent need for bipartisan support. Jewish Boca is especially grateful to Sen. Ashley Moody, Sen. Rick Scott, Rep. Jared Moskowitz and Rep. Lois Frankel for their continued leadership and dedication to the safety of the Jewish community.
“This was more than a conference; it was a call to action,” said Igor Alterman, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. “Our Federation leaders came to Washington not only as advocates, but as subject matter experts on the security challenges facing Jewish communities today. We met directly with lawmakers to present practical solutions and deliver a clear message: Our community will not be intimidated. We are committed to protecting Jewish life locally, in Israel and around the globe.”
As Federation leaders return to South Palm Beach County, their work in Washington reinforces a continued commitment to the safety and strength of the local Jewish community. Together with partners across the country, Federation remains focused on protecting Jewish life and building a secure, united future for all.
