Earlier this year, the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation hosted a celebration of legacy donors who have participated in the LIFE & LEGACY™ initiative and a community introduction to the Jewish Future Pledge.

“Leaving a legacy” sounds honorable, visionary and charitable, but how is it actually done?

The Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation (JJCF) at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is focused on answering that question through LIFE & LEGACY Plus, the latest initiative in partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) that engages Jewish organizations across the community to help secure legacy and endowment gifts.

The program is the successor to South Palm Beach County’s partnership with the HGF’s LIFE & LEGACY, which was completed in 2020, after receiving more than $78 million in legacy and endowment commitments in five years.

It is a pivotal follow-up program to encourage the continued growth of the legacy giving culture in South Palm Beach County. For the next four years, the JJCF will work with Jewish organizations throughout the community, in partnership with the HGF, to provide trainings, financial incentives, guidance and more, to advance legacy giving.

Learn Best Practices for Legacy Giving

Participants from community organizations will learn best practices on how to ask for gifts, market legacy programs and steward donors. This leads to a community with an elevated importance and increased knowledge of planned gifts and endowments.

“The Grinspoon Foundation recognized that building a culture of philanthropy takes time and we are grateful that they will once again be working with our community to implement a program that has the power to change our future,” said Mark Schaum, incoming JJCF Board Chair and former co-chair of the Create a Jewish Legacy Committee. “Our previous participation in LIFE & LEGACY proved to be transformational to the community. Participating synagogues, schools, agencies and the Federation all worked hard to bring in commitments for permanent resources.”

Welcoming organizations that are new to and experienced in endowments

LIFE & LEGACY Plus will include organizations that participated in the earlier program, as well as those that are just kicking off their endowment and legacy giving efforts.
