SCN and Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County Tap Cosimo Castronovo as Community Security Director
Castronovo brings nearly three decades of law enforcement and community security experience to support safety and preparedness across South Palm Beach County
Boca Raton, Florida — The Secure Community Network (SCN) and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County have named Cosimo Castronovo as Community Security Director. Castronovo brings nearly 30 years of law enforcement and community safety experience to the role, having most recently served as Deputy Director of Community Security for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and previously as Police Captain with the Aventura Police Department.
Founded in 2020, the South Palm Beach Community Security Program operates under SCN’s umbrella to secure houses of worship, schools, centers of Jewish life, and community organizations. Serving over 150,000 residents, including the Federation’s 100-acre campus, the initiative provides over 70 local institutions with access to SCN threat management resources, training, and law enforcement coordination backed by SCN’s National Jewish Community Security Standards and U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation.
Castronovo spent nearly 25 years with the Aventura Police Department, rising to Captain after serving in patrol, investigations, S.W.A.T., and command roles. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, he later served with the Coral Springs Police Department before joining the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, where he led security planning, threat assessments, preparedness, training, and law enforcement coordination.
“After nearly three decades in law enforcement, I’m honored to continue serving the Jewish community in this new role,” said Cosimo Castronovo. “I look forward to building on the work already underway and strengthening security and preparedness across South Palm Beach County.”
“Cosimo brings the experience, relationships, and leadership to build on a strong security foundation in South Palm Beach County,” said Michael Masters, SCN National Director & CEO. “The Federation has long been forward leaning on security and preparedness, including through its participation in SCN’s Regional Threat Capability Initiative. We’re pleased to build on that foundation with Cosimo in this role.”
“Security and preparedness have long been priorities for our Federation and our community,” said Igor Alterman, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. “Cosimo and our SCN partnership bring the law enforcement experience, relationships, and security expertise to build on that commitment and strengthen the safety, resilience, and openness that define Jewish life across South Palm Beach County.”
