As our community prepares to celebrate Passover, a time when we remember the journey from slavery to freedom, we also remember the strength found in hope, as the Passover story is retold. This year’s observance feels especially heartrending, as we reflect on the struggles of those enduring hardship, particularly our hostages that have yet to return home to Israel.

Yet, in the face of adversity, our community continues to embody the spirit of hope and renewal, coming together in solidarity to affirm our collective resilience. The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is proud to support several Passover programs around town that renew our commitment to a brighter future!

Friendship House held a family Passover event on March 23, welcoming JARC group home residents to enjoy the festivities, including an interactive Passover story and matzah making.

On the sweet side of life, PJ Library® in South Palm Beach County/PJ Our WayTM prepared for Passover with a Chocolate Seder in Federation’s Zinman Hall on March 30.

“The rain didn’t keep anyone away. We sang, danced, drank four cups of chocolate milk, broke the chocolate matzah, dipped the strawberry in chocolate syrup, and had a ton of fun,” said PJ Library Director Elana Ostroff.

B’nai Torah Congregation, will host a special recovery Seder at Lucky Horse Sanctuary, providing a safe space for community members to celebrate amidst the challenges of addiction. The outdoor Seder will take place on April 13, where participants will share their stories of resilience and hope, and despite their struggles with addiction, embrace the promise of renewal that Passover signifies. B’nai Torah Recovery Seders are alcohol-free and designed with special consideration for people in recovery and their families.

If you are in your 20s or 30s, and still planning your Passover celebration, our partner, OneTable, is there to help. OneTable hosts can get nourishment support for Seders or Passover Shabbat (April 18th). Hosts can also receive a variety of Passover resources, such as guides and Seder inspiration, to help them have a meaningful holiday. (https://onetable.org/passover/)

As we gather around the Seder table, we reflect on the timeless lessons of the Passover story – freedom, hope and unity. Just as our ancestors strived to build a brighter future, we are called to do the same.

Wishing you and your loved ones a meaningful Passover. Chag Pesach Sameach.
