How many meals can be delivered in one day?

For our partner agency, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS), the answer was “500-plus,” as its volunteers deployed throughout the community to brighten residents’ holidays during its 2nd Annual “Thanksgiving-To-Go,” held Nov. 21, 2021.

More than 100 volunteers distributed more than 500 traditional Thanksgiving meals to 300+ households. Many of the household residents were vulnerable JFS clients, Holocaust survivors and residents of JARC, an agency that assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

WPTV Newschannel 5 featured the volunteers in action:

Due to COVID safety protocols, the “Thanksgiving-To-Go” took the place of JFS’ Annual Thanksgiving Banquet, which for more than 25 years has been held on Thanksgiving Day and fed more than 700 people at a time, who would have otherwise been alone for the holiday. “Thanksgiving-To-Go” was sponsored by Edith Stein and Etta & Raymond Zimmerman, longtime funders of the Banquet.

The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County puts your valuable donations to work by supporting JFS, as it addresses critical societal needs, such as food insecurity, throughout the year. As you enjoy the holidays with family and friends, please consider a gift to our Federation’s Annual Campaign.
