This spring, the Youth Leadership delegation from our partnership city of Zichron Yaakov in Israel, brought 12 teens to South Palm Beach County, marking the culmination of a heartfelt nine-month program exploring Diaspora Jewry, the diversity of Judaism, and Israel’s place in the world. Led by educator Nir Boneh and Partnership2Gether committee member Mayan Chin Jacobi from Zichron Yaakov, the group was warmly hosted by local families through the Jewish Federation and Temple Beth El.

Year after year, this partnership continues to foster meaningful exchanges. “This program helped me explore my Jewish identity, connect with this incredible community, and truly understand the deep bond between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide,” said Zohar Ayali, one of the participants. “Each moment—from visiting the Holocaust Memorial to celebrating Purim—showed us how Jewish identity is expressed in so many ways. Right now, Israel faces challenges, but knowing we have your support reminds us we are part of something unbreakable.”

The teens spent time with host families, sharing Shabbat together, and connecting with Jewish youth in the community. They engaged with students at Spanish River High School, Katz Yeshiva High School, and Donna Klein Jewish Academy, and celebrated Purim at Sinai Residences. They also enjoyed games with March of the Living participants and helped plant at Liumi West Retreat. A highlight for many was speaking with the lay leadership of the Federation and sharing with them about their lives in Israel.

Beyond Boca, the teens explored Miami Beach’s Holocaust Memorial, had meaningful conversations about Jewish foods and traditions in both Israel and the US with students at FAU Hillel, and experienced the vibrant arts of Wynwood. A trip to Universal Studios and a performance of The Lion King made for a truly unforgettable experience.

The delegation left with a deeper understanding of South Palm Beach County’s vibrant Jewish community, which embraces all streams and fosters strong ties to Israel. We are grateful to have welcomed our extended family from Zichron Yaakov and look forward to strengthening this meaningful partnership for years to come.
