Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean CEO,to Headline Season’s First B&P Industry Icon Event
Amid premium networking opportunities, business leaders and professionals will have the opportunity to hear from Richard D. Fain, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Fain, a leading entrepreneur in the travel industry, will share his valuable insights on Thursday evening, October 15, 2015, at the launch event for the 2015-2016 Industry Icon Series for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s Business & Professional Division (B&P).
Well over 100 local professionals attended each of the past three seasons’ widely acclaimed Industry Icon events and they’ll gather once again in Zinman Hall on the Federation campus at 9901 Donna Klein Blvd. in Boca Raton. Since 1988, Fain has been at the helm of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., a global cruise company that owns six brands and operates 46 ships, carrying over five million guests annually. Prior to joining the cruise line, Fain spent 13 years at Gotaas-Larsen Shipping Corp., a London-based owner and operator of cargo ships.
A consummate professional as well as an active philanthropist, Fain has been honored by a variety of organizations for his contributions. He is the Vice Chair of the University of Miami, and serves on the board of the Posse Foundation and the Florida Council of 100. In 2000, Fain received the Anti-Defamation League’s Distinguished Community Service award and was named the 1999 Statesman of the Year by the Wharton School Club of South Florida. In 1998, he received the Humanitarian of the Year award from the American Red Cross of Greater Miami and the Keys and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Travel Weekly in 2010.
