Israel’s Leading-Edge, High-Tech Side Coming to Boca at IMAGINATION ISRAEL

Five years after the release of the New York Times best-selling book, Start-up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle, Israel’s emergence as one of the world’s titans of technology and entrepreneurship comes as no surprise. Now, the South Palm Beach County community will have a remarkable opportunity to observe the 66th anniversary of the State of Israel by celebrating the country’s contributions to the high-tech revolution with an insiders’ view of some of its cutting-edge innovations.

The first program of its kind open to the public -and offered free of charge - IMAGINATION ISRAEL will bring the community together for exciting and informative live demonstrations of high-tech innovations. Developed in Israel by leading entrepreneurs and scientists for medical, environmental and military uses, these products benefit Israelis as well as consumers in the United States and worldwide. IMAGINATION ISRAEL will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Lynn University’s Wold Performing Arts Center, 3601 Military Trail, Boca Raton. Admission is limited to adults and students in Grade 6 or higher.

“IMAGINATION ISRAEL is a unique, exciting opportunity to get a close-up view of the phenomenon explored in Start-up Nation,” said Andrew Robins, who co-chairs the JCRC with Jill Rose. “The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is proud to extend this invitation to learn about the exhilarating Israeli high tech sector. Special arrangements have been made to bring in Jonathan Medved, a leader in the Israeli tech scene, to moderate this presentation.”

Named “one of the top ten most influential Americans to have impacted Israel” by the New York Times, Medved was also described by Start-up Nation authors, Saul Singer and Dan Senor, as “one of Israel’s legendary business ambassadors…” Medved speaks regularly to groups in Israel and abroad and has briefed scores of journalists, business leaders and public officials on Israel's tech miracle.

Medved said: “Israeli technology is astounding the world. The “Startup Nation” has now become a worldwide brand and a source of Jewish pride. Join me at Imagination Israel where you will meet some of Israel’s leading entrepreneurs and see for yourself how Israel is changing the world we all live in for the better.”

Six highly innovative, applicable Israeli products will be presented to the public at IMAGINATION ISRAEL:

• MUV Interactive will display MUV which turns any surface into a touch screen.
• Surgical Theater will show its Surgical Rehearsal Platform which converts CT/MRI scans into a 3D model which allows neurosurgeons to rehearse.
• Consumer Physics will show its foods sensing device that determines content, nutrition and quality of foods.
• Agilite will display its Injured Personnel Carrier, a hands-free backpack used to evacuate wounded soldiers.
• Mibileye will show its Advanced Driver Assistance System, offering advanced collision avoidance technology for automobiles.
• Itamar Medical will show EndoPAT, a diagnostic device that easily measures functioning of the endothelium and the overall health of the heart

Among these high-interest presenters, former Israeli Air Force R&D Officer and Surgical Theater’s President and Co-founder, Moty Avisar notes, “We applied our Israeli Air Force experience with flight simulation techniques in order to make possible rehearsal for brain surgery by neurosurgeons.”

MUV Interactive’s Founder and CEO Rami Parham, describes his company’s work, “We turn ANY surface into a touch screen. The applications for this technology are infinite.”

Lauded by the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, Israel country ranks first in venture capital investments per capita, and leads the world in both venture capital and Research & Development investment as a percentage of GDP. This tiny country’s high-tech efforts are increasingly drawing large corporations like Apple Inc., Intel Corp., IBM and Cisco Systems to purchase Israeli companies and set up R&D inside Israel, creating jobs and enabling entrepreneurs to go on and start their next ventures.

“Diaspora Jewish involvement in Israeli business is an important way to support our homeland,” said Robins. “Our JCRC and Federation are pleased to be playing a part in bringing this exceptional program to South Palm Beach County.”
