Raising Nearly $78 Million in Legacy Commitments, South PBC Jewish Groups Celebrate with JJCF

Lay and professional leaders, rabbis and legacy donors from ten South Palm Beach County Jewish agencies, schools, synagogues and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County gathered for a warm, elegant evening event on November 19, 2019. Together, they celebrated their remarkable individual and collective successes as part of the local Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) program with a reception, live music, a keynote speaker, and awards in Zinman Hall on the Federation’s west Boca Raton campus. Representatives from the ten participating LIFE & LEGACYTM initiative agencies, synagogues, schools and Federation received awards at the Create a Jewish Legacy Celebration at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County

Administered by the Federation’s Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation (JJCF), the local CJL has been part of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation's LIFE & LEGACYTM initiative for the past four years.
“Over four years, our Federation, agencies, schools and synagogues have together raised nearly $78 million in 624 legacy commitments from 471 donors for their own and the entire Jewish community’s future,” said Matthew C. Levin, President & CEO of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. “$25 million has already been realized, with its interest put to good use. For the fourth year in a row, The Grinspoon Foundation has recognized our community for leading the 63 LIFE & LEGACY participants around the country in both dollars committed and realized.”
“Every one of those commitments came from people who understand the importance of ensuring our future now," remarked Levin. "Thank you for leading our Jewish organizations to a place of firmer footing so they may continue to positively impact Jewish life now and for future generations."
"So many families here can now say that they are committed to making a difference in the lives of our Jewish people now and in the future, to ensure that our Federation, synagogues, agencies and schools continue to thrive,” said Anne Jacobson, Immediate Past Chair of the Federation Board. Jacobson co-chairs the CJL with her husband Norman, Elyssa Kupferberg and Mark Schaum, joined by Dale Filhaber. “We are grateful to the Harold Grinspoon Foundation for their support, guidance and generosity in helping us reach this milestone."
Winnie Sandler Grinspoon, president of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, praised the community for its hard work and national leadership in receiving legacy and endowment commitments, and encouraged continuing their efforts together.
"Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) has been extraordinarily successful,” said Larry Blair, JJCF Chair. “An increasing number of people understand the value of planned giving to endow their gifts for years to come. CJL has yielded great rewards for all and brings us together to sustain our community's future.”
The LIFE & LEGACY participants were called to the stage to receive awards: Adolph and Rose Levis JCC, Boca Raton Synagogue, Congregation Shaarei Kodesh, Donna Klein Jewish Academy, Katz Hillel Day School of Boca Raton, Katz Yeshiva High School of South Florida, Jewish Association for Residential Care, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services, and Temple Beth El of Boca Raton
