In this time of social distancing, PJ Library® of South Palm Beach County has been and continues to present great virtual programming for children and families. But nothing really replaces hands-on opportunities to make a difference for those in need.

So now PJ Library of South Palm Beach County invites everyone to PJ Library “Goes” to the Pantry, an incredible – and safe - mitzvah (good deed) opportunity to help the rapidly increasing number of our neighbors who are to struggling to make ends meet during our time with COVID-19. Families need only add items from the much-needed list at the end of this message to their regular shopping experiences, package them up and drop them off contact-free without leaving their vehicles on Thursday, May 21 between 10am-12noon or 1-3pm, at the Jacobson Family Food Pantry at JFS, 430 S. Congress Ave., Delray Beach- Unit 1-C. For directions or more information, please contact Elana Ostroff, local PJ Library Director, at pjlibrary@bocafed.org.

“PJ Library ‘Goes’ to the Pantry makes it easy for our children to engage in hands-on helping and to understand the importance of caring for our neighbors,” said Ostroff. “The Food Pantry at JFS truly needs our help at this time, so let’s do a mitzvah (good deed)!
From South Palm Beach County to around the world, PJ Library® is renowned for sending free high quality children’s Jewish books and music right to families’ mailboxes. But, especially in our community, PJ Library is also known for bringing families together to learn, to celebrate and to help others.

“While we may not be getting together in person, we have been ‘seeing’ a lot of each other virtually - and newcomers are most welcome,” said Miriam Klein, local PJ Library Co-Chair.  “PJ Library is here to help our families navigate during these challenging times. Be sure to like our Facebook Page for up to date and hour by hour programming, resources and more for all ages – including special programs for parents. You’ll find storytimes, craft-alongs, virtual tours, cooking, concerts and lots more including special live Shabbat programs each week.”

Ostroff added: “And having good books at home is even more important now. So if every child in a local household is not already receiving the gift of PJ Library, we urge them to sign up online at https://pjlibrary.org/enroll-in-a-community?id=199337 for free top quality Jewish books every month. If your child is 8 ½ to 12 years old, sign up at https://pjourway.org/ for monthly PJ Our Way chapter books.”

PJ Library® in South Palm Beach County is made possible by generous support from the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, Leon and Toby Cooperman Family Foundation, Jewish Women’s Foundation and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
