Lay and professional leaders, rabbis and legacy donors from ten South Palm Beach County Jewish agencies, schools, synagogues and Federation gathered for a warm, elegant evening event on October 16, 2018. Together, they celebrated their remarkable individual and collective successes as part of the local Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) program with a reception in Federation’s Zinman Hall. Together the CJL partner groups have raised nearly $74 million in 574 legacy commitments from 433 donors over the past two years for their own and the entire Jewish community’s future.

An elegant, fun, informative and inspiring evening is planned for hundreds of prominent Jewish philanthropists at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s annual Sandler Family Major Gifts Event on December 5 at The Polo Club. This year, as they celebrate the Federation’s Annual Campaign, guests will rejoice in Israel’s 70th anniversary with its art, music, innovation and featured speaker, Chemi Peres. Following in the footsteps of his father, Shimon Peres, Chemi Peres is one of Israel’s preeminent venture capitalists and is Chairman of the Peres Institute for Peace and Innovation.

For 38 years, Jewish people have been taking part in Limmud days of learning in 84 communities spanning 44 countries and six continents. And now, Limmud, is coming to Boca Raton on Sunday, December 9 with an expansive, day-long array of learning opportunities. From across diverse Jewish South Palm Beach County and beyond, 600 adults of all ages will fill Katz Yeshiva High School’s new facility on the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County campus in West Boca. Together, in the all-inclusive Limmud environment, unaffiliated with any branch of Judaism, they’ll explore Jewish culture, thought and identity in a powerful, upbeat and inspiring celebration of shared learning.

Latkes, gelt, live music, stories, prizes and more are in store for all ages at a free community celebration on the 3rd night of Chanukah - Tuesday evening, December 4, 2018. Everyone is invited to get into the fun and bask in our community’s holiday warmth and the glow of a giant menorah in the amphitheater at The Shops at Boca Center. The festivities will begin with crafts and story time at 5:30 pm before the candle lighting and musical entertainment at 6:00 pm. Local synagogues, day schools and Jewish organizations will display the vibrant diversity of the South Palm Beach County Jewish community.

More than 215,000 meals (21 pallets of cereal for breakfast with 100,800 servings and 20 pallets of assorted pop top meals filled with protein for proper nutrition for lunch providing 115,200 servings) have already been sent to battered Gulf Coast of Florida to feed victims of all ages of Hurricane Michael.

From across the vibrant local Jewish community, adults of all ages who support the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will gather once again for a terrific time celebrating all the good they do together. This year, nearly 700 strong are expected at THE OPENING EVENT at Boca West Country Club on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. The festivities for this annual season kickoff will start at 6:00 pm with unlimited cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, food stations and warmest connections among friends and colleagues old and new. The program will begin at 7:00 pm, featuring Mark Wilf, new Jewish Federations of North America Chair and owner/president of the Minnesota Vikings.

Women of all ages from throughout the Jewish community are invited to enjoy “An Inspired Journey,” a personal and humorous exploration of the Jewish holidays from author Abigail Pogrebin, as they open the women’s season for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County on November 7 at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. Women may join in at 9:30 am over breakfast or at 7:00 pm with lite bites.

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the event considered the start of the Holocaust, the 17th Annual Kristallnacht Film Forum (KFF) will once again showcase an interesting Holocaust-related feature. The Samuel Project, starring Hal Linden, will be screened on Sunday, November 4 at 11:30 am and 4:45 pm in Zinman Hall on the Federation campus. Each screening will include a discussion with the producer of the film.

The event will take place at the temple’s Schaefer Family Campus, located at 333 SW 4th Avenue, Boca Raton.

Once again, a vibrant crowd from every corner of Jewish South Palm Beach County came together in testament and celebration of the strength and joy of this remarkable, united Jewish community. With 1,400 Jewish community leaders and members gathered in FAU’s Carole & Barry Kaye auditorium on June 13, they not only observed the fourth annual Jewish Unity Day. They also celebrated the Jewish community of South Palm Beach County’s recent receipt of the prestigious international Jerusalem Unity Prize.

Filled with caring, support and inspiration, dedicated local women philanthropists from across our Jewish community came together on April 30 for the annual installation of the Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. The beautiful spring-styled brunch at the Wyndham Hotel in Boca Raton welcomed the incoming 2018-19 officers including new Chair, Jill Rose, as it wished a sincere farewell to the outgoing leaders and celebrated a most successful year.

With plenty to celebrate and confidence in the future, the theme rang true for more than 300 dedicated Federation and Jewish community leaders at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s 2018 Annual Meeting on April 24. In a packed Zinman Hall, the warmth and ruach, unity and commitment left no doubt: it’s been a year to celebrate, and the future is ours to imagine. During the meeting, Anne Jacobson passed the gavel to new Board Chair Arthur Goldberg.

Amid a sea of blue and white, nearly 3,500 local residents and leaders came together in solidarity, spirit and vibrant Jewish diversity to celebrate the 70th anniversary – and the miracles - of the modern State of Israel. The enthusiastic crowd was transported to the sights, sounds and tastes of Israel, right in Mizner Park Amphitheater on April 18, as Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) transitioned into Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day).

Knowing that many cherish their role of l’dor v’dor (from generation to generation), PJ Library® offers opportunities to pass the values and traditions so dear to them on to the younger generation. Now, in addition to offering PJ activities all around town throughout the year, the program is reaching out in a new way. To kick off their initiative, PJ is hosting their Grandparents & Special Friends Celebration on Wednesday, May 2. All Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to delve into and celebrate their important Jewish grandparenting role over breakfast at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s west Boca campus. Dr. Leon Weissberg will discuss “The Etymology of L’Dor V’Dor - from Generation to Generation.”

They gathered at the Waterstone Resort in Boca Raton on March 28 for an Insider Briefing with Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, Former Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson for the Foreign Media, following cocktails and dinner.

The Jewish Women’s Foundation hosted its 2018 Granting Wishes Cocktail Reception on March 14 at Boca Rio Golf Club. More than160 guests from across the Jewish community were the first to learn about JWF’s $105,000 2018 grant awards to organizations in the local community and in Israel. They also enjoyed hearing from award-winning Jewish journalists Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein, who co-founded The MOMS multi-platform lifestyle brand.
