SUMMARY:Helping Children Thrive In An Uncertain World with Dr. Michele Borba
DESCRIPTION:Temple Beth El is thrilled to bring Dr. Michele Borba\, internationally renowned educator\, award-winning author\, and parenting child expert to our congregation and community. Her latest book is an urgently needed guide to address the staggering increase in anxiety\, stress and emptiness for children from preschool to high school. \nShe explains why the old markers of accomplishment (grades\, test scores) are no longer reliable predictors of success in the 21st century – and offers 7 teachable traits that will safeguard our kids for the future. \nThose essential character strengths-confidence\, empathy\, self-control\, integrity\, curiosity\, perseverance\, and optimism-will allow kids to roll with the punches and succeed in life. \nIn Person:\n– $18 per Temple Beth El member\n– $36 per Guest \nVirtual:\n– $18 per person \nRegistration includes one copy of Thrivers: The Surprising Reasons Why Some Kids Struggle and Some Kids Shine by Dr. Michele Borba per family. (One book per family. Virtual ticket holders may pick up their book at either the Schaefer Family Campus or the Beck Family Campus.) \nThis program is relevant to all members with children\, ages 0-18.  Grandparents are welcome! \nRegister \nTo continue the conversation\, there are three workshops offered in conjunction with Temple Beth El and Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services. These workshops are limited in capacity. \nIn this 3-part series\, the following topics will be discussed\, customized for each age category. You will have the opportunity to register for workshops after registering for the event on January 12. \nPart 1: Stretching the Comfort Zone in our Children– Creating self-confident\, problem solvers who are curious and independent thinkers while encouraging empathy.\nPart 2: “Choose Your Battles” with Nurturing Discipline– What are the lessons when children take risks\, make mistakes\, and test independence and how and when is it best for parents to create boundaries?\nPart 3: Am I Okay and therefore\, Is my Child Okay? Managing parental stress in 2023. \nFor questions or more information contact Elinor Josephson at ejosephson@tbeboca.org or 561-314-2833 \nThis program is generously underwritten by Jill Viner. \nPhoto Credits: Dr. Michele Borba and Temple Beth El of Boca Raton \n  \n  \n
