PJ Library® Brings Family Concert to Hundreds (October 25, 2015)
About the Event
Hundreds of music-loving children, parents and grandparents sang and danced with entertainers “Mama Doni” Zasloff and her husband, Eric Lindberg, at a concert hosted by PJ Library - South Palm Beach County. The energetic and engaging duo kept kids and adults on their feet, from the opening Hallelujah song through the entire repertoire of interactive family-friendly songs celebrating Jewish life and culture. With dancing and creative movement incorporated into every song, audience members of all ages had a blast singing on stage alongside the performers at the Spanish River High School’s Countess de Hoernle Theater. The New Jersey-based, award-winning musicians fully lived up to their stellar reputation as PJ Library performers at the forefront of the bluegrass style, kid-centric music scene.
The diverse crowd, comprised of intergenerational families from throughout the community, also enjoyed an outdoor pre-concert sing-along with local PJ Library musician Susan Shane-Linder, in addition to a face-painting station and photo booth. Guests had the opportunity to browse an array of tables showcasing local synagogues and their educational and membership opportunities. We thank our partnership synagogues who joined us: Congregation B’nai Israel, B’nai Torah Congregation, Congregation Shaarei Kodesh and Temple Beth El, as well as i9 Sports. A special thank you goes to the Florida Blue Foundation, which awarded a grant to help underwrite the PJ Library program this year.
Local PJ Library Chairs Joanna Drowos and Ilene Wohlgemuth greeted the guests and introduced the community’s rapidly growing PJ Library program, as well as the new chapter in PJ Library, PJ Our Way for children ages 9-11. Those who haven’t yet signed up for this program to receive free high-quality Jewish children’s book right at home every month are encouraged to sign up now! PJ Library welcomes all families living in South Palm Beach County raising Jewish children six months through eight years old and ages 9-11.
