Light up the 8th Night of Chanukah at Boca Center with PJ Library®
Latkes, gelt, live music, stories, prizes and more are in store for all ages at a free community celebration on the 8th night of Chanukah - Tuesday evening, December 23, 2014. Everyone is invited get into the fun and bask in the holiday warmth and glow of a giant menorah in the amphitheater at The Shops at Boca Center, 5050 Town Center Circle in Boca Raton.
The festivities will begin with crafts, games and storytime at 5:30 p.m. before the candlelighting and entertainment at 6:00 p.m.
“We’re creating one large menorah of our whole community,” said Rabbi Josh Broide, Director of Community Engagement for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. “The full radiance of our diverse Jewish community will be unmistakable as leaders of our local synagogues each light one candle.”
After the lighting, the young, Atlanta-based Jewish musician Sammy Rosenbaum and band members will offer a sing-a-long for all ages followed by a Chanukah concert. Also a Jewish music educator, the multi-instrumentalist Rosenbaum blends styles ranging from Jazz, Funk, and Folk to World Beat and Hip Hop to connect people through Jewish music.
This special community event is presented by PJ Library - South Palm Beach County, a free family engagement program that inspires a love of Judaism from the very start for children and families.
“All families living in South Palm Beach County raising Jewish children from six months through eight years old are invited to sign up for PJ Library® to receive a monthly gift of free high-quality Jewish children’s books and music,” said Elana Ostroff, PJ Library Director.
“We’re grateful to The Shops at Boca Center and to our other generous local sponsors of what’s sure to be a night to remember for our Jewish community,” added Ostroff. “We’ll have kosher latkes, gelt and great raffle prizes as we wrap up our Chanukah festivities.”
