Israel Comes to Campus for 66th Birthday Celebration (May 6, 2014)
About the Event
With music, dancing, flags, displays and even a visit from the Consul General, the Federation campus celebrated Yom HaAtzmaut, the 66th anniversary of Israel’s statehood on May 6. Amid a sea of blue and white, the ruach emanated from Dedication Plaza where the Department of Jewish Education and Donna Klein Jewish Academy collaborated on a program of professionally led Israeli folk dancing.
Throughout the day, DKJA and Zale Early Childhood Center classes paraded and danced, cheered on by residents of JARC, and Gould and Weinberg senior housing; students from Unicorn Village Academy; campus employees; parents and teachers. Just a few feet away in Zinman Hall, where Consul General Chaim Shacham began the day speaking with students, the classes toured DKJA’s amazing annual Israel for Real interactive exhibits.
