Young Adults Give Back to Help Children in Need (November 17, 2015)

About the Event
The Young Adult Division’s evening of social action brought nearly 100 young Jewish locals to a large, lively space on the Federation campus. Many brought their children to learn about Chai Lifeline, and to create arts and crafts to brighten the Chanukah season for clients of this terrific organization that helps families experiencing serious pediatric illness.

They heard about all the help Chai Lifeline provides from Regional Director Ellen Weiss, MSW, and some deeply moving words from a girl who benefits from their services. Then everyone dove into the craft tables to create blankets for hospitalized children, chemo care kits, “stained glass” dreidels, Chanukah bookmarks and menorahs.

For almost three decades, Chai Lifeline has been helping families caught in the nightmare of pediatric illness and enabling them to get through the emotional, social, and financial turmoil. This is achieved by providing services such as hot meals delivered to hospitals and homes, specialized overnight summer camps and support systems for the entire family.

YAD Social Action Co-Chairs Carly Glikman and Lindsay Cohen opened and closed the program with warmth and gratitude. And Weiss presented YAD with a plaque for their “Love, Friendship and Generosity.”
