“Bake a Difference:" The Recipe That Keeps on Giving (November 17, 2013)
About the Event
More than 100 community-minded young adults, families and neighbors from South Palm Beach County volunteered their time and decorating skills at the new and exciting mitzvah project, “Bake a Difference" on November 17. They worked alongside some very special residents from the Jewish Association of Residential Care and others to decorate and personalize 1,840 Chanukah cookies and 600 holiday cards.
The delicious goodies were packaged along with the notes of greeting and will be distributed at the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service and The Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center. The communal meal benefits seniors, special needs adults and community members in our area who are alone or cannot make a festive meal for themselves.
As Young Adult Division Chair, Bryan Drowos said, "The cookies will go far, but the love and spirit of tzedakah behind them means much more to both the recipients and the participants.”
