Women of all ages from throughout the Jewish community are invited to enjoy “An Inspired Journey,” a personal and humorous exploration of the Jewish holidays from author Abigail Pogrebin, as they open the women’s season for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County on November 7 at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. Women may join in at 9:30 am over breakfast or at 7:00 pm with lite bites.

Filled with caring, support and inspiration, dedicated local women philanthropists from across our Jewish community came together on April 30 for the annual installation of the Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. The beautiful spring-styled brunch at the Wyndham Hotel in Boca Raton welcomed the incoming 2018-19 officers including new Chair, Jill Rose, as it wished a sincere farewell to the outgoing leaders and celebrated a most successful year.

Siggy Flicker will headline a uniquely engaging and inspiring evening the women’s Spring Finale, at Woodfield Country Club on March 12, 2018, 7:00 p.m. Known for her role on the past two seasons of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Siggy used to call Boca Raton her home. She is a highly sought motivational speaker, relationship expert, TV personality, author and matchmaker. Born in Israel and the daughter of a renowned Holocaust survivor and scholar, Siggy is known for her messages of self-assurance and empowerment, her no-nonsense yet nurturing advice on love and life, and her inspiration to create a life doing what one loves. Guests will also hear from Alina Spaulding, whose parents struggled for years to leave the former Soviet Union and were successful when the worldwide Jewish community stepped forth.

Hundreds of generous, committed members of the “pride” of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will once again gather to rededicate and celebrate, at the Lion of Judah Luncheon on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Part of an international sisterhood 17,500 strong, the local Lion contingent of nearly 700 is among the largest in the country. With Honorary Chair Judy Levis Markhoff and Event Chair Elyssa Kupferberg, South Palm Beach County’s Lions will be roaring with two-time Emmy© Award winner and best-selling author Deborah Norville as their keynote speaker. For more than twenty years, Norville has anchored Inside Edition on CBS, the country’s top-rated and most honored syndicated news magazine, and she previously co-hosted NBC’s Today.

Women of all ages from throughout the Jewish community are invited to two opportunities to hear the remarkable Dafna Michaelson Jenet and to open the women’s season for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County over breakfast at the Polo Club or at an evening with dessert at the Weisman Center on November 16. Jenet’s book, It takes a little crazy to make a difference, chronicles this young, then newly single mother’s jumping off the path and hitting the road for the 52 weeks of one year to visit all 50 US states and conduct more than 500 interviews. Through this extraordinary experience, she forged a new life built on inspiring others with the stories of ordinary people solving problems in their communities, neighborhoods, businesses and lives and changing the world one by one. The couvert is $45, with no minimum gift required to attend.

Some of South Palm Beach County’s most resoundingly philanthropic women roared their way to Washington, DC for a few action-packed September days at the biennial International Lion of Judah Conference (ILOJC). Fifty strong, they proudly comprised one of the event’s largest community delegations. To start, easily recognized by their fuchsia-pink, Lion-embroidered pashmina shawls, our Lions enjoyed two days of special activities together. They also learned, bonded and got inspired at conference plenaries and breakout sessions with some of today’s most respected, high-level speakers in religion, culture and art, business, politics and philanthropy, on issues affecting the Jewish community at home and abroad. And they feted our own Emily Grabelsky, who received the prestigious Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award at the conference.

In support, celebration and sisterhood, 101 caring, dedicated women came together on April 7, 2016 for the annual installation of the Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. Led by Women’s Philanthropy Board Member Elyssa Kupferberg, the “Stepping into the Future” brunch program in Zinman Hall on the Federation campus drew a continual chorus of laughter, tears and cheers. An inspiring D’var Torah by Rabbi David Steinhardt charted an inspiring course for the morning. Together the women celebrated the past two-year term of Women’s Philanthropy Chair, Judi Schuman and rededicated themselves to the future as new officers were installed and Judi passed the gavel to new Chair, April Leavy.

Against the vibrant backdrop of amazing works of art, nearly 100 Jewish women came together on April 27, 2015 for the annual installation of the Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. The women enjoyed a gourmet brunch buffet at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Together, with joy, laughter and some tears, they remembered and celebrated 2014-15, then recommitted as they looked to the year ahead.

The “pride” of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County gathered again to rededicate and celebrate at the most awaited annual event in local women’s philanthropy. The roar from The Polo Club resounded across the globe on January 14, when 350 generous, committed women came together for the Lion of Judah Luncheon. They welcomed new Lions and LOJES and remembered those who had passed during the year yet whose vision and generosity made them Lions Forever. And they listened raptly to two remarkable speakers. JulieSue Goldwasser shared the profound support of her Federation family through her toddler son’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. With humor as well as gravitas, keynote speaker Linor Abargil shared her powerful journey from being crowned Miss Israel and, shortly after a brutal rape, Miss World, to becoming an attorney, anti-rape activist and mother of “three under three.”

A moving morning of inspiration and empowerment is in store for women from throughout the Jewish community as our Federation opens a new women’s season. They’ll gather on Monday morning, November 3, 2014 to hear about one woman’s courageous efforts to save Jews in Poland during the Holocaust, as Jeannie Smith shares the riveting story of her remarkable mother, Irene Gut Opdyke. The program will be held at Woodfield Country Clubin Boca Raton. Registration will start at 8:45 a.m, with the program beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. The $45 couvert includes breakfast, with dietary laws observed.

In full support, celebration and sisterhood, 85 caring, dedicated women came together for Federation’s 2014-15 Women’s Philanthropy Board Installation. They gathered for the brunch program on March at the Levis JCC Sandler Center. Margaret Kottler, Installation Chair, led the moving ceremony that honored Women’s Philanthropy leaders both current and past. Special recognition was given to Judi Schuman, incoming Chair of Women’s Philanthropy; Emily Grabelsky, outgoing Chair of Women’s Philanthropy; and Rebecca Appelbaum, recipient of the 2014 Dorothy Seaman Leadership Award. The morning also included an inspiring D’var Torah delivered by Debra Halperin.
