Subway Entrepreneur, Philanthropist Larry Feldman to Headline 4th Industry Icons Event
How do you get from Brooklyn to Boca? Take the Subway! Entrepreneurs and professionals from throughout the area will have a great opportunity to hear Larry Feldman share lessons from his three-plus decades of distinguished franchise experience as CEO of Subway Development Corporation on March 20, 2013. The breakfast event is the fourth and last in this season’s Industry Icons series offered by the new Business & Professional (B&P) Division of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. Premium networking and breakfast (dietary laws observed) will begin at 8:00 am in Zinman Hall on the Federation campus, 9901 Donna Klein Blvd., Boca Raton. The program will start promptly at 8:30 am. All are invited to share a terrific morning with a low couvert of $36.

A lawyer by training, his fast-track government career included Legislative Counsel to Congressman Stewart McKinney of Connecticut, Minority Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives, Banking Committee's Subcommittee on Economic Stabilization and Assistant General Counsel to the Full Banking and Currency Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, in Washington, DC. He then followed with a bold entrepreneurial move by opening his first Subway location in the Capital Hill area, as an absentee investment. He then added franchise development contracts for Washington, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. It all culminated for Mr. Feldman in the creation of Subway Development Corporation of Washington, listed today as one of the country's leading franchise operations, by Entrepreneur Magazine. This year Mr. Feldman will be celebrating over 35 years in the Subway franchise business as well as opening over 1200 franchise restaurants in his Northern development territory with an additional 280 restaurants in South Florida.
A 1999 Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” nominee, Mr. Feldman continues to receive awards for his business and philanthropic endeavors, including winner of the Washington Business Journal Philanthropy Award for Small Business, the Smart CEO Magazine Award for Excellence in Philanthropy and South Florida Business Leader of the Year, 2012 by Southern Business Leader Magazine. Mr. Feldman and his wife, Diane were recently honored as the recipients of the Ruth and Norman Rales Humanitarian of the Year Award.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of several businesses, educational, civic, religious and philanthropic organizations, Mr. Feldman is also a lecturer at numerous schools, colleges and universities and advisor to entrepreneur's and startup companies in the U.S. and abroad.
