JCRC, Federation and Agencies Brief Legislators before Florida Session (January 13, 2015)

About the Event
As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County brought our community’s State Senators and State Representatives to Federation’s campus to meet with Jewish community leaders in advance of this year’s legislative session in Tallahassee. They gathered in Zinman Hall for the Legislative Sendoff to learn about new and existing issues and program proposals to address the needs of vulnerable residents of Boca Raton and Delray Beach. More than fifty individuals attended the reception and program, including legislators and their staff members, federal government officials, professionals from the Israeli Consulate, local rabbis, and leaders of the JCRC, the Federation and its beneficiary agencies. Presentations from four Federation beneficiary agencies (JFS, JARC, JAFCO and FTS) highlighted local human needs and how much is at stake amid shortfalls in funding for services. Follow up meetings have been held with legislators.
