Israel Update: What Happens Next?

The welcome news of a ceasefire as we head into Labor Day weekend offers the opportunity to pause and reflect. The numbers from Israel are telling: more than 50 days of conflict. More than 4,300 rockets fired by Hamas. 32 terror tunnels discovered and destroyed by the IDF. Yet the toll on the five million Israelis within terrorists’ reach—the stress, the fear and the trauma of life under fire—is immeasurable.

Day 30: Operation Protective Edge Update

As of right now, Israel has witnessed more than 24 hours of relative calm. The result is a growing sense of cautious relief throughout the country. While the IDF remains positioned along the Gaza border, officials confirm that Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure has been severely crippled, and that immediate threats posed by terrorist tunnels (which resulted in 11 IDF fatalities) have been removed. With this long-awaited moment of respite, I am reminded that after an anxiety-ridden four weeks, there is still more work to be done.

Day 23: One Jewish People

When it comes to Israel and the Diaspora, I have the special privilege of straddling two worlds. I made aliyah when I was just 21, meaning I’ve spent more than half my life as an Israeli. But I was raised in the United States, and now work passionately on behalf of a North American organization, so I can relate to—and empathize with—the Diaspora community as well.
