Jewish Federation & JCRC Leaders Condemn White Nationalist Hatred in Charlottesville

We join in horror, grief and outrage at the hate-filled white nationalist rally that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday. We are sickened by the vile racism and anti-Semitism on proud display at one of the largest such gatherings in decades, including Nazi flags, imagery, salutes, slogans and quotes from Hitler. Even without this stark reminder, as Jews we know all too well the depths where intolerance and extremism meet.

In Support of Jewish Unity – in Israel and the Diaspora

Through triumphs and tragedies over the millennia, we have learned that the security and the well-being of Israel and our Jewish people rest on Klal Yisrael, our shared commitment to each other across differences of geography, culture and observance. Israel has always been defined as the homeland of all the Jewish people, with strong ties and responsibilities far beyond its own borders and citizens. Therefore, as leaders of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, we were dismayed by this week’s stunning pair of decisions by the Israeli Prime Minister and his cabinet.

Urgent Message From Our CEO in Israel

I am writing from the Jewish Agency meetings in Israel, where the Prime Minister and his cabinet have made a pair of decisions that together could threaten the unity of the Jewish people and diaspora-Israel relations. First, the Israeli government suspended the historic 2016 "one wall for one people" Kotel Agreement for cynical political reasons. Second, the government introduced a bill that, if passed, would return a full monopoly to Israel’s Chief Rabbinate regarding conversions. South Palm Beach County has been a national leader in understanding that pluralism is crucial for Jewish unity, and our voices are needed now.

Our Federation. Our Community. Our World: Federation’s 2017 Annual Meeting

When the lights went down and a live feed from Poland appeared onscreen, the theme of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s 2017 Annual Meeting came alive. As larger than life greetings from three members of our March of the Living delegation, Marla Weiss Egers, Rabbi Josh Broide and Hal Klein, infused a packed Zinman Hall on April 25, there could be no doubt: we are, indeed, Our Federation. Our Community. Our World.
