Florida Hillel Directors Tour SPBC Campus

On Wednesday, September 21st, our South Palm Beach County Federation was honored to host Hillel directors serving college campuses throughout the State of Florida. Eight directors, representing 21 public and private colleges and universities, engaged in discussions regarding common issues and best practices over the course of two days.
Conference attendees were Directors Melanie Annis (Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, Florida A&M University), Jeremy Dictor (New College of Florida, Ringling College of Art & Design, Florida Gulf Coast University), Rabbi Adam Grossman (University of Florida), Igor Khoklov (University of Miami), Adam Kolett (Florida Atlantic University, Lynn University, Palm Beach State College, Nova Southeast University, Broward College), Jessica Kronis (Florida International University), Rabbi Ed Rosenthal (Eckard College, University of South Florida, University of Tampa, Stetson University, Florida Southern College) and Aaron Weil (University of Central Florida).
Jennifer Chestnut (Hillel International) and Melissa Levine (Florida Hillel Coordinator) attended as well.
Guests included Israel Consul General Lior Haiat as well as Jeff Reinstein, Birthright Israel’s North American Recruitment Director.
Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County President and CEO Matt Levin welcomed the group, and discussed Jewish engagement on college campuses, visits to Israel, and countering the BDS movement, among other issues. Stuart Silver, our Federation’s V.P. of Community Planning, then led the group on a tour of the Federation’s campus.
The directors’ business meeting addressed strategies for cooperation and goal setting, and creating uniform rules of engagement. Attendees were unanimous in the belief that much was accomplished at this extraordinary meeting.
